Gas Prices Continue to Rise, Democrats Sit on Their Hands

No one wants to pay more at the gas pumps. Americans are tired of gas continuing to climb as in some parts of the country people are seeing $4.60/gallon. Democrats in Congress have promised to ease the burden at the pumps. Nancy Pelosi promised the American people that Congress would keep the price for a gallon of gas low, and yet since the Dems. took office gas has almost doubled, which shows that the Democrats do not have the solution to prising gasoline prices. They want to attack the free market when the free market is the solution.

We can end or at least greatly reduce our dependency on foreign oil. We have the ability, but Democrats on Capital Hill have submitted to the will of the liberal environmentalists. They have betrayed the American people in pursuit of their own political gain. When William Jefferson Clinton was president he vetoed legislation that would allow us to drill in ANWR. It is believed that we could get a million barrels of oil a day from the arctic. John Cornyn believes that drilling in ANWR, off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and within the borders of the United States would provide us with enough reserve to eliminated dependency on oil from overseas, and lower the price of gas at the pump, but the Democrats do not want to drill in Alaska out of fear of the environmentalist who seem so concerned with the environment in Alaska, but don’t seem to care about the animal and plant life in Texas and Oklahoma where residence are being told that their property will be used to drill for oil, and they really do not have a say in it. We can’t drill off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and no one can give me a clear answer as to why this is. Other countries are drilling in international waters, why can’t we? We have an opportunity to eliminate the oil crisis in America, and Democrats would rather interfere in the free market than do what is right, and what is best for the American people.

Democrats on Capital Hill seek to go after oil companies instead of alleviating the problem. They have set higher fuel emission standards on car companies, and in doing so not only are they trying to grasp a tighter hold on the free market, but they are also causing the car companies to waste millions of dollars on vehicles already in production, because they do not meet the standards of the Democrats. Not only are the car companies forced to throw millions of dollars down the toilet, but they will have to commit millions more to manufacture new vehicles. What is this going to do? It is going to raise the price of automobiles to a point that the average American would not be to afford a new car. This is the solution of the Democratic Party. Not only will gas prices continue to rise under Democratic control of Congress, but they will also cause the price of automobiles to rise. Sound like a great plan? Of course not. With the hold that the environmentalists have on the Democratic Party they are not going to solve the oil crisis. They do not know how.
