It has recently been discovered that even the woman who promised to bring integrity to the position of Speaker of the House can be bought. An article released by the #dontgo Movement released information that Speaker Pelosi has a good amount of money (Anywhere between $50K to $100K) invested in Clean Energy Fuels, a business started by T. Boone Pickens, which profits from the use of natural gas. The original source for the information released by #dontgo is the blog Michigan Taxes Too Much
Like all investors in this business she stands to gain a substantial amount in return if gas prices remain high, and if local, state, and even the federal government turn to natural gas. Nancy Pelosi, who says that she is out to save the world is really just looking get richer off the suffering of the American people. High gas and energy prices weigh heavily on the minds of Americans, and they are looking to their representatives who are suppose to act on the Will of the People for answers. Yet, Pelosi continues to ignore the needs of the American citizen in pursuit of her own gain, which for the madam speaker turns out to be not only political, but financial as well.
Sixty-four percent of Americans (according to Rasmussen) believe that Congress should lift the ban on domestic, offshore oil drilling so that we can drill off the coasts of Florida and California. The very purpose of Congress is to speak for the American people, and to act on behave of the Will of the American people, but Democrats like Speaker Pelosi have much more to gain from the suffering of the average American. Americans want energy independence so we do not have to rely on foreign sources for oil and energy anymore, but Nancy Pelosi is not interested in gaining energy independence. Her hope is that Barack Obama wins the election in November, because Obama has proposed an energy plan that will by no means lower the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump, but will be a means of redistributing wealth and promoting a socialist agenda.
Someone explain to me what is wrong with making profit? In order for a business to thrive and to excel they must make profit and if they don’t and they keep breaking even or spend a couple of quarters in the red then the business will go under, which would not be good for the overall economy. Democrats like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi want to try and keep the American people looking at oil companies for the increase in gas prices referencing this notion of “record profit”. Apparently, Obama wants you to believe that profit is a bad thing. When focusing on the amount of profit that oil companies bring in you have to take into consideration that these companies participate in one of the largest markets in the world, and that there is an extremely high demand for oil, and that demand increases constantly. It is because of the amount of demand that currently exists for oil that oil companies are able to make these “record profits”.
Obama has decided that he wants to take a good amount of profit from these companies and redistribute it in another stimulus package as part of his socialist agenda. That is not going to help the economy at all. Obama promises to take some of that money and put it towards exploring alternative sources of fuel while Americans will still suffer from high gas and energy prices. I wonder what alternative source the federal government would invest in? Maybe natural gas? In the end, the only people who will benefit from Obama’s plan are Barack, Democrats, and people like Nancy Pelosi, and will end up not being the solution that America and its citizens need.
Fun fact: Since Nancy Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker of the House in 2007 gas prices have risen 74% from a national average of $2.33 to $4.04.
We should be looking to gain energy independence from foreign sources. In this pursuit offshore drilling is one of a few key solutions to the problem. We need to embrace what Senator John Cornyn of Texas calls “all of the above”. By this he means we should explore every available resource we have. Senator Cornyn believes in the use of clean coal, nuclear, oil shale, wind, solar, oil and gas, hydrogen cells, whatever possible sources of fuel and energy we have available to end our dependency on foreign oil and foreign energy. The ultimate goal should be too gain energy independence, but as long as Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House there will be no strives to accomplish this goal, because liberals and Democrats profit more off of high gas prices, and off the suffering of the American people.
